OK... so this is a question.. you ever have a song of Billy Bragg's stuck in your head for days...
Tonight I couldn't get "Strange Things Happen" out of my head... generally it is "Fourteenth of February" from William Bloke...

Milkman of Human Kindness is in mine these day. Yes, I have clocked so many hours of him over so very many years that it's like listening to myself breathe! -

Re: Billy songs.. stuck in your head....
Mon, March 15, 2004 - 1:49 PMwell, technically i need to credit wilco for helping to get this song stuck in my head all the time, out of nowhere, when i've not even heard it for weeks...walt whitman's neice seems to have a fond liking for the parts of my brain responsible for repeating song lyrics... -

Re: Billy songs.. stuck in your head....
Sat, March 27, 2004 - 1:29 AMPersonally, I think Wico is shite. I also believe that Billy lowered himself when he collabrated with them. They're a bunch of over-rated hacks. With a catalogue like his, he really has no reason to stoop to that level.
Help save the youth of America.

Sat, March 27, 2004 - 8:25 AMFor years that was my audition piece. the Walk Away Renee Monologue. You can play all sorts of theatrical levels with it. It is funny and mad and pitiful.

Re: Billy songs.. stuck in your head....
Fri, March 26, 2004 - 4:30 AMFar too often to make a note of, to be honest...
And I find it impossible to sing his songs to myself without putting on a little caricature of his voice... It always sounds like I'm taking the piss, but I'm really not.
There's something definitively Billy about his voice, and his intonation makes the songs so much more than they would be read out of a songbook by some PopIdol entrant.
